We really did expect the water to be high today but what we anticipated would be decent for stripping streamers in selected spots. As it turns out there was much more water than that! There was up to 2″ of rain on the tops of the mountains that fell on top of several inches of snow.
When we left the house the river was at a perfect level for fishing streamers but was still rising. This is what we found after the 15 minute drive. As you’ll see we also drove up to see what the brook trout water looked like. Also take into account we’ve seen higher water than this in the Smokies over the past year, but it was still a record flow for the date.
