A quick update for those who like to fish around Bryson City, NC. A landslide on the trail upstream of The Road to Nowhere has closed trail.
The trail is closed because of heavy construction equipment in place now to remedy to issue. The trail is closed up to campsite #65, but the trail is open upstream of there for those coming down from Clingman’s Dome. (That’s a SERIOUS hike, by the way)
Construction should be complete by Thursday, April 24 but may be done sooner. Check with the park backcountry office at 865-436-1297 if you plan to head that way near that date.
The park has stated that anyone who already held reservations for campsite #65 can come in from the lower end. They will be escorted through the construction zone if they show their permit to personnel on site.
