Very few people know this, but Ian dabbles in art. He draws quite a bit and works in watercolor as well. This has always just been strictly for himself with no intention of selling anything. In fact, he keeps a pad in his backpack almost all the time. When he’s alone on the stream or in the woods he’ll often pause to draw.

Ian also enjoys working with watercolors. Our house has paintings tacked up all over, dangling by a corner like elementary school projects. Again, trout, wildlife and fly fishing are his favorite subjects.
A few watercolors
I’ve been encouraging Ian to show off some of this and more, so be sure to let us know what you think!

I love these.

That means a lot, Dave, as I’ve heard your unvarnished critique of things before. One of my favorite “Dave” comments was that you’d prefer a roll of buffalo nickels run up a certain part of your anatomy than whatever it was. Don’t remember the thing so much as the preferred alternative.
Willow still loves to use a comment she heard from you. Whenever a trout jumps on fly she’ll giggle and say “He was on that like a hobo on a ham sandwich!” One of yours from an evening in the bar at TroutHunter…
Stay well!
