There are a few infrastructure projects going on in the Smokies right now that could affect your fishing plans. Hopefully you can make plans accordingly.
The most important will effect anyone heading to Abrams Creek in Cades Cove. The Abrams Falls Trail is undergoing restoration to repair severe erosion and will be close each week Monday – Thursday. The trail will be open Friday – Sunday each week plus on any federal holiday. The project is scheduled to last until early November.
Additionally it’s important to know that Cades Cove will be closed to all automobile traffic every Wednesday through the end of September. The loop road will open only to bicycles and pedestrians on Wednesdays.
There is some good news, though! The very long project to repair Greenbrier Road’s flood damage and replace bridges has finally come to an end. That means all the streams in the Greenbrier section of the Smokies are fishable once again, so go check them out.
