We’re not going to get much of a chance to do any fishing over the next couple of weeks. We’ll be setting up in Somerset, New Jersey this Thursday for the show this weekend. We won’t be back in the Smokies until next week. We’ll have a couple of days to spare before turning around and heading to the show in Charlotte.
There won’t be much fishing, but we’re not complaining. It’s great to get out and meet new people and see old friends. Come on out and see us if you get a chance. We’ll be in the Cincinnati area and Asheville, NC in early February. We’re making a trip to the Atlanta Fly Fishing Club in early March.
Long term forecasts are showing a warm up here in East Tennessee so it won’t be long before the fishing comes back around. Right now there is ice on the water and snow on the mountains. Even after it warms up in a few days the water will remain ice cold as snow melts. We’ll keep an eye on the weather and river gauges to keep you posted.
Tailwaters in our neck of the woods have been tough to get on, but the South Holston has been fishing quite well. We’ve heard about some great olive hatches.
