I met Claude Mayer and David Howell just outside of Pigeon Forge today and headed to the Greenbrier section of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We had some rain yesterday evening here at Townsend and from my deck I could see storm clouds from Thunderhead Mountain all the way north beyond Clingman’s Dome. I was pleasantly surprised to find not just OK, but ideal water conditions on the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon. John and David were brand new to trout fishing with a fly but the fish were extremely eager today and they moved fish in almost every run and pocket. There were a couple of brief yet heavy showers today. Water levels on Little River haven’t done much but temperatures are fine. Rain is forecast for tomorrow with pop up thunderstorms in the days to come.
