I bought this book in anticipation of a family vacation to Townsend. I knew I would have half a day at most to go fishing and wanted to be prepared. At first glance, I was irritated that the book covered so much of what I thought was generic information on fly fishing, but after I got into it, I learned so much that was applicable where I live in Virginia, too. The first spot I picked out based on the book ended up having a tree across the road, preventing me from getting to the trailhead. I went to Plan B and caught three beautiful rainbows in 3 hours without seeing another person. I highly recommend this book to anybody considering fishing in the Smokies! The beautiful brook trout painting was an excellent, too.
